On the 23rd June Project METaL were invited to attend an ION Leadership ‘Power Hour’, held in the SPECIFIC Active Classroom on the Swansea University Bay Campus. ION Leadership are a Swansea University project, working in partnership with Bangor University; they provide training programmes to businesses across Wales and are supported by the European Social Fund.
The ‘Power Hour’ was attended by a diverse group, including representatives from Business Wales, the construction industry and training providers. Attendees had the opportunity for informal networking over coffee, before the official introductions and 60 second pitches, outlining the businesses and job roles of each participant.
Following this, Richard Horner, ION’s Leadership Development Specialist, delivered a taster of the project’s successful leadership course that was both stimulating and insightful.
The session was highly engaging, with attendees being given the opportunity to discuss in groups the pros and cons of different leadership styles. In addition, we looked at how to increase business growth, and drive innovation through effective leadership.
The METaL Team would like to extend our thanks to ION for hosting such a great event; we look forward to attending more sessions in future.
