This course provides an overview of common manufacturing processes for product realization, material selection, automation and disruptive manufacturing technologies. The role of additive manufacturing, sustainability, and benefits of modelling and certain software packages that complement manufacturing will be explored.

Who should attend?

The course is aimed at people who wish to gain/improve their knowledge of manufacturing, manufacturing processes and their link to materials. Typical attendees include technical personnel, production managers, production operators, engineers and trainees.  The delegates do not need to have any formal qualifications but as the course is first year degree level they should be able to engage on a technical course.

Course aims

To provide a core understanding of manufacturing processes, material considerations during these processes, highlighting accepted manufacturing practices. The course will provide an insight into the technical aspects of manufacturing and highlight processing considerations and common defects for both new emerging manufacturing processes as well as traditional processes.

40% in class assessment, 60% formal 2hr exam

3 days plus assessment.
